Changing Teams is an amazing short story, which perfectly depicts the psychological phases and their manifestations in the material world of the coming of age of a young man who transforms into a fully grown-up person. The story starts with the young football player waking up one day only to realize that he is suffocating in the different woman every other day thing. He feels as if something is missing, utterly sure that happiness feels differently. In order to go through the needed alteration, he accepts a bet that he can stop being the boy he has been up until that moment and go on for a month without hooking up with someone. It is during this period that he meets a special someone, who will answer all of his questions and unresolved dilemmas.
The story serves the purpose of broadening our perspectives, that love can come in different forms and shapes, which is why we should be open to it at all times. The special spice of this story is the fact that the transforming factor is, in fact, a man, unlike Rick’s previous partners.
